Plug: Black Moth Super Rainbow

There aren't a lot of bands we will shamelessly plug at Almost Colossus. Flying Lotus is one (as seen here). And then there's Black Moth Super Rainbow.

Formed in Pittsburgh, PA, BMSR has been pumping out creepy analog disco pop since 2003. You remember Garbage Pail Kids cards, right?

Now, imagine that in audio form. It's like a delayed VCR tape feed of distorted instruments that you can never quite discern and twinkly keys, intertwined with elusive frontman Tobacco's heavily processed vocals.

Check the unofficial video for "Born On A Day the Sun Didn't Rise" off 2009's Eating Us below, then peep the 40 second teaser stream of the upcoming album, Psychic Love Damage, posted on their Soundcloud below. BMSR are on tour this Fall and Tulsa World reports BMSR will be releasing four songs with The Flaming Lips as part of their 2011 EP series. "Those will be out soon, "according to the Lips' Wayne Coyne.

Logo Thing

Just a quick post before I head into work.

DC has been gradually releasing complete covers including logos for the DC New Universe (DCNU) 52 relaunch. Other than a few exceptions, they've been pretty uninspired if not plain ugly. But I just now stumbled upon a bit perfection:

It's like The Cramps' logo meets classic pulp 'zines like Eerie and Creepy. I'm not as familiar as I'd like with the character of Swamp Thing (I know, I know) but Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette's relaunch has raced to the top of my DCNU pull list.

The Kentucky Fried Levels of Hell

Buckethead completely dropped off my radar after his unfortunate stunt with un-Guns 'N Roses, but hopefully you too will find him locked on target after this gleefully disturbing video for "Spokes for the Wheel of Torment" off of 2004's The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell. The video, released in 2006, is a straight-up homage to Hieronymus Bosch's famous triptychs, most notably The Garden of Earthly Delights.

And, just because it's awesome, check out Buckethead's "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" remix, originally posted via his website as tribute to the late Ol' Dirty Bastard:

TDKR: Casting Rogue

This past Saturday I was set to take part of the filming of The Dark Knight Rises at Heinz Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA, but due to the inefficient reservation practices of Be In A Movie, the firm staging the casting call, my droogs and I were only able to obtain stand-by tickets. Already facing the hindrances of travel, hotel stay, and looming ill weather we chose to not risk the trip. As it turns out, we missed out on quite a show. With little effort one can find online full details of Saturday's filming including an audio snippet of Bane (Tom Hardy) delivering a speech to the Gotham Rogues hostage audience.

Every spoilery bit of TDKR has been pretty exciting. Although I have been following it closely I have little interest in sharing unofficial photos, reports, and such here. I am more than pleased to share official details, though.

Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle

Read around at your own risk; there seems to be a lot available, unlike Nolan's previous secretiveness with The Dark Knight. I doubt much is being ruined or disclosed, though, given the enormous cast and rumored plot lines. All of the Pittsburgh details are sure to be a mere few minutes of the film.
